ESG and China have been two of the most popular topics among the global investment community recently. Their relevance isn’t fading, and as foreign investors continue to enter the opening market, considering the two subjects in tandem will be increasingly important. However, the development of ESG investing in China remains nascent.
In this edition of our Strategic Outlook, we assess the adoption of ESG onshore – its standards, its implementation and its demand. We find that for the space to grow meaningfully in the next five years, substantial reforms at each of those levels will need to take place.
